GATA DE GORGOS, BUSINESS TRADITION OPEN TO THE WORLD
Signes’ history is linked to the history of its origin. In Gata de Gorgos, a town on the Alicante coast, emerged important businesses as of the first half of the twentieth century, in the beginning with a connection to agriculture, with raisins and derivatives of crafts as protagonists. The closeness to the port of Gandia and Denia from where it traded, with distant lands as England or America, made that Gata de Gorgos grew in name and number of companies dedicated to these important trade routes.
TRADITION AND FAMILY HERITAGE.
Like in other families of the time, the ancestors of Signes had to explore the world in order to find a better future for his family. The experiences from these travels were fundamental to understanding the business world as a whole and to lay the company foundations. With a simple origin but a strong enterprising character they were able to transmit the perseverance value and work as unique secrets for personal and business success to the future generations.
1968, THE BEGINNING OF A NEW WAY.
Signes was founded by José Signes Pedrós in the late sixtees. Driven by the booming trade in the area soon he wanted to add his own stamp on how to make hats. The innovation and the incorporation of new materials have never been at odds with the respect for the traditional way to elaborate each piece. His enterprising spirit has been transmitted to the new generation and they have led the brand Signes to the demanding scenarios on the five continents, where design and quality are appreciated. Nowadays Signes is an exclusive reference with a strong will to continue expanding their products around the world.
